a decade ago, I set out to see if I could find porn for women
on the internet. I was writing an article about online erotica
and was hoping to discover a wealth of quality adult sites for
females.
Alas,
it was a very difficult task. In 1998, there wasn't a huge amount
of porn to be had and the vast majority of it was for men. I
did find a variety of gay sites that had photos of naked men,
and that was OK, but it didn't really help me with my article.
Meanwhile,
I encountered the plethora mainstream porn sites that catered
to male viewers. I found plenty of hardcore sites with all kinds
of sexual activities including anal sex, double penetrations
and kinky stuff. Almost all of them had the woman looking right
at the camera. Nobody seem to know what a clitoris was.
The
guys were pretty unattractive, and I wasn't impressed with the
language used - dirty whores, sluts, bitches. There wasn't much
that appealed to me as a woman.
It's
funny to think I was searching for porn at the university library
computer. Thankfully no-one kicked me out.
Now,
over ten years later, I'm pleased to say there's a lot more
available to the straight woman who wants to enjoy porn. You
can now find plenty of free galleries and sites, and there's
a larger selection of premium erotica to choose from.
In 2003 I created my own adult site for women. For
The Girls is a labour of love, made to please myself as
much as other women. Luckily I'm not alone in my tastes, as
the site is hugely successful and has been for over eight years.
It's got naked men, hardcore couples, movies, erotic fiction
and an entire women's magazine. Like Cosmo but far dirtier.

sites have been popping up everywhere, although a lot of the
time it's assumed the audience is male, which changes things
a bit. CFNM stands for "Clothed Female, Naked Male"

Women
are the largest consumers of sex toys, so naturally there are
a plethora of adult stores and quite a few of them cater specifically

network) sites. These offer hardcore porn which can be accessed
via a password, obtained through a credit card. Once a member,

free sites available, although their pics may be censored or

believe that erotica for women is a force for social change.
Porn has been with us from the beginning and is impossible to
erase. Women's erotica offers the chance to change it, to lift
it out of the misogynist gutter and turn it into a celebration
of real sex, of real people, and of real relationships.
